The company, which was started in the 1940s by John Betlem and spans three generations, has grown to serve the city of Rochester, Monroe County and the surrounding areas.
Currently, John Betlem Heating & Cooling caters primarily to the residential market, with around 10 percent of their customers being light commercial. They focus mainly on replacement of pre-existing units as opposed to new construction. The company currently employs 48 and operates a fleet of 34 vehicles. Technicians are highly trained at the John Betlem Institute, an on-site educational center that provides apprenticeship training. Robert Betlem owns John Betlem Heating & Cooling, and his children Kathy, David, Steven, and Jim, as well as cousins Jim Lytle and Darryl Fishbaugh, are all a part of the company’s leadership committee.

I have been a customer for twenty years. I have two gas furnaces with air in my home. In addition I have a power generator and a tankless hot water heater - all installed and maintained by John Betlem Heating and Cooling.
During this time, I have found the technicians to be very competent, courteous, and on time (including holidays and nights).
It is unlikely to be with a company so long without having an issue and we did. It was a billing issue where I differed from their point of view. I can say, however, that it was resolved to my complete satisfaction.

He arrived precisely at the time the appointment was arranged, called first and was here just about the estimated 2 hours. He was extremely patient and helpful! Very knowledgeable and polite. I would highly recommend John Betlem Heating and Cooling to anyone! When I called for the appointment, the lady who helped me was very nice and efficient and I was able to get the time I had hoped for.
Our technician, Todd Cole, has been absolutely amazing. We have an older home with a ton of quirks and despite the nuances and occasionally the extreme weather (outdoor generator service/repairs), he's been phenomenal at troubleshooting and solving, within acceptable cost(s), all of our concerns!
Todd is incredibly thorough, knowledgeable and patient. We’re always glad to see a friendly and familiar face as need(s) arrise within our home. John Betlem has been nothing but fair and affordable.

Had the heating system cleaned . Service Tech arrived on time and was friendly and courteous . The job was done professionally . Had the air conditioner serviced also. Tech found a part that was going bad and had it replaced before it went out totally so we would lose air in mid summer when it is needed most.
